Claire House Children's Hospice

Pennine Events are proud to announce Claire House Children's Hospice are once again the beneficiary charity for this year’s Liverpool Chester Liverpool Bike Ride!

Located on the Wirral, the ten-bedded hospice provides respite, end-of-life and bereavement care for children and young adults with complex medical needs, up to the age of 23. Claire House is also there to support the whole family, providing support and counselling for as long as is needed.

In 2014, the hospice cared for over 230 children and young adults, some of them through the last days of their life. The hospice relies on donations to continue to make every moment count for these families, through respite, music, experiences and helping make memories that last a lifetime.

During their stay, each child has at a minimum of one-to-one care. They can spend time in the hydrotherapy pool, enjoy a music therapy session, sing karaoke in The Den or take part in arts and crafts therapy. And the whole family can be there with them, with private bedrooms and a lounge for Mum and Dad to unwind and take a break from their roles as carers.

But Claire House's work extends far beyond the hospice grounds. Their specialist nursing team also work in the community through the Hospice to Home scheme, which offers care and support in the family home.

They look after families from across Merseyside, Cheshire, North Wales, West Lancashire and the Isle of Man and provide a home-from-home environment for children and young people, helping enrich their lives so they can live them to the full.

A Message from Claire House

“Claire House are so proud to be the charity partner of the Liverpool Chester Bike Ride. This unique and exciting event covers a large area of our region, where we care for families with children and young adults that will not live to adulthood. At Claire House, we are all about life and living and making memories for people that will last a lifetime. Our work is carried out either at our Bebington-based hospice, or through our 24 hour nursing team that care in the community in the homes of the families that we support. Without the incredible people who cycle for their local children’s hospice, this would just not be possible, and we hope that more people can don the saddle this year so that we can help more families than ever before.”
